Here are KProbe v2.4.2 results for another burn. This time I burned 2.55GB of DVD video data at 2x in a Pioneer DVD-105 with hacked 1.33 firmware (see www.rpc1.org). These are ok values -- almost identical to my NEC ND-2500a results in my other post, below. Again, the KProbe test was done in a LiteOn LTD-163D DVD-ROM drive; these results are probably higher than what a LiteOn DVD recorder would produce. Note also that it's recommended to perform KProbe tests using a DVD recorder, not DVD-ROM drive.

Again, I will not burn more than 4.0GB to these discs, as noted/warned by others.

Created DVD video ISO using CDRTOOLS v2.0. Burned with DVD Decrypter v3.5.2.0. Verified disc by copying last 100-200MB of data to hard disk with disc in a DVD-ROM drive (not recorder). Note that the order that data is typically burned to a disc is by alphabetically. Copying folders/files that are alphabetically last confirms readability on outer edge of burn, where most burn errors occur.
Works fine on Panasonic DVD-RV30

Bought 50 for $10 after rebate like most everyone else here. Haven't messed with these discs in a while. They were bad from the start. Decided to give it another go and burned a 2.53GB ISO with my NEC ND-2500A. Here are KProbe v2.4.2 results from a read in a LiteOn LTD-163 DVD-ROM drive. These numbers aren't bad -- they'd be worse if I burned to the end of the disc, though.

I bought 2 50-disc spindles from OfficeMax in a clearance sale for $15 each, not noticing that they only have 1x speed. However, my DVD burner writes at 2x speed with these discs. So far, I have burned 45 discs and nine of them turned out bad. Not a very good success rate. It appears that if I record enough material near the 4.37GB limit, I get very severe artifacting (microblocks) to the point of freezing up my DVD player. This suggests that the quality falls apart near the edge of these discs so what I do is make sure that I try not to record more than 4GB or so of material onto the disc and they'll turn up okay. But still, I don't like the thought of reducing the bitrate, and thereby quality, just to make the videos no more than 4GB in size. These discs are so unreliable that I only put old VHS videos on them, as giveaway copies of videos to friends or for test burns of authored DVD's. I would have returned the unopened spindle for a refund but I misplaced my receipt. I'll never make the same mistake of buying this brand again.

As many have found, these discs are pretty unreliable, especially towards the edges. Most manufacturers are dropping PRINCO MID code out of their firmware, because it is so unreliable. My experiences are the same, and of my recorders, my TDK seems to tolerate the discs somewhat.

Most stable way for me to use these disks is burn at 2x using BHA's GOLD5 with all verify and comparision on. If I use NERO at 1x or 2x the verify will fail 75% of the time.

All disks burned at 2x with BHA work on my cyberhome 707b player.

Some disks about 10-20% have playback problems on philps DVD 724 at the end of the movie.

All disks burned with BHA as 2x also funtion on the 4 DVD-ROM reader I have.

Absolutely worthless. Pissed off I bought some, and tomorrow I am returning it. I burnt about 10 out of a spindle of 50. ALL had the exact same error problems. The DVD media burns fine, I burnt with DVD Decrypter, Nero, and ImgTool Burn. All burns finished successfully on a Pioneer A05. All instances showed the same errors. About halfway through the data stream on the disc (for a standard movie, about 1 hour in) random pixelation starts to pop up which was not in the original data stream. This distortion continues and builds until the dvd player can not further read the disc. The disc was tried in several standalone players which all initially read the disc and then the picture degenerated as described above. The main players used were a Norcent 300, and a Toshiba SD-K510 although others were also tested. Media was burnt at 1X and still had problems. Seems that the DVD media craps out at the midpoint in the disc. I know of no reason why this should happen but it does.

I have been burning DVDs for over 2 years, these are the crappiest DVD media that I have used to date.

I was using interVideo DVD copy software to burn for disk-to-disk copy w/o required selecting speed (unavailable). It took me about 25 mins to copy a DVD movie. I was able to playback on a Apex DVD player but SOMETIME OK playback on Yamakawa DVD player (bought at Fry's under $40). Anyway, I am still very happy that I paid for $10, cheaper than CD-R media.
