Most know about the Macro and Region Free hacks out there. I looked for a long time and couldn't find anything specific about changing the background image on my GE1101P. Well, it is a piece of cake. I used ApexLogo to install a new background pic into my macro/region hacked .bin file. The only bad thing is that you only get 15962 bytes for the binary image file while most other players firmware alots at least 18k or more. I got all of the needed software, files and information from:

hack required for multi region 9

PostRegion code hack posted by stevie, April 03 2006:

A while back i worked at radio shack and realized the remotes for the Tredex 8303(which i own) and the GE1101P(which we sold at Radio Shack) were almost identical so i tried these codes(which are for the Tredex 8303) and it seemed to work.

REGION FREE:
1. Open the tray
2. On the remote push 2-1-8-0
3. Then push the number of the region you want.

For example 2-1-8-0-2 gives you Region 2.
For Region-Free push 2-1-8-0-9

The first four digits will appear as asterisks on the screen. Each digit has its own asterisk.
Once you reach the fifth digit whatever that digit is will replace all the asterisks.
I would assume that 2-1-8-0-1 would work for Region 1 RCE discs (although I have not tested it myself.)
MACROVISION ON/OFF:

1. Open the tray
2. On the remote push 4-5-6-1
3. Then Push "1" to turn OFF Macrovision or Push "0" to turn ON Macrovision.
So 4-5-6-1-1 turns OFF Macrovision while 4-5-6-1-0 turns ON Macrovision.
The first four digits will appear as asterisks on the screen. Each digit has its own asterisk.
Once you reach the fifth digit whatever that digit is will replace all the asterisks.
