I tried this hack posted by Derange Nov 3,09 and was for a Sony SR 200 model but is working on my 500 machine, wonderful. This is his instructions: 1) Switch on player 2) Open tray compartment 3) Using the remote enter 2812 4) Press 9 on key pad and then enter or Nav Ctr button 5) Press CLEAR to exit This should clear the region as it did mine and can play all the disks that previously was locked out by Region code 1, Works for me. Registered this account only to warn everybody: Just bought this one DVP-SR500H (Mar 2012) on sale from Amazon.com(US site) for $39.88 (manufactured: December 2011, Made in China) 2812 doesn't work and all the numbers you can get online to enter the "tray aging mode" in the secret menu don't work. I've searched for 2 days all over google for ALL the codes for either this model sr500h or similar models made by sony. And they didn't work. I think they have changed the firmware and now no one cares enough to work on DVD players and crack the firmwares anymore. But of course I still hope some one will still be able to post a code that works in the future. In the mean time if you want to have a universal DVD player, either buy a model that definitely has a working code here or online, or, I've bought pioneer 610 and jvc 680 that definitely work, and it seems pioneer 3022 will work, which is the one I'm gonna buy now. Anyway, if you still don't believe me and want to try yourself, be sure to try the codes you can find right after your purchase just so you can return the player once you find out that they don't work. | |||
