I cannot change the region, do you know how i can make this player read region 1 or region all

PostRegion code hack posted by skippy, December 31 2003:

yes i have suffer the same problem that you speak about, but like i said i have noticed that there are two possible ways to hack the region .
The first one is to hack the hadrware see below:-

http://homepage3.nifty.com/~kei_nifty/NS530.htm

this explains how to change/alter voltages to surface mounted resistors. "i think there is also a file showing eeprom details (but unsure)".

perhaps the other is to swap version no's ,and eeprom setting plus also which region it was originally =

without crashing your warranty i suggest helping me with option 2 ...(sharing eeprom hex codes and versions).

hope this helps
skippy :)

my codes are the same as yours.

my prom option is 55 53 00 DE 12 FF 30 FF

where do we go from here?

Thanks for the hex code .
Its seems that your in the uk as well,i'm going to pester kier in japan a littele bit more this week, and see if my findings on the three resistors is correct.

BUT still looking for remote hacks for all of you,it may be we need to upgrade firmware ,but i doubt it.I was also reading last night that there are many versions of the "MEDIATEK MT1379" ,for those using the eeprom hex codes 55-53-00-de-12-ff-30-ff the chip should read "MT1379DES" .
Where other owners have quoted "MT1379AE and even MT1379Fe" and have all quoted different eeprom hex codes .

I also read that one bloke and altered the eeprom code to play svcd's (this man was not from the uk).I'm sorry that i am not so helpful tonight but it is the new year.

If by next we as a group have not found this hack i will resort to family in the tv business (he's friends with local repair centre) but only as a last resort.

Hope to have news for you soon
Skippy

hello folks .
also found this hex code the other day if you change the "de" in the hex code to 30 you get a reduced screen on the logo and by tapping in 46 or 47 i got a green logo instead of orange backround .

*****55/53/00/de/12/ff/30/ff******

changed the de to 30 -47-46 etc.

read some where a zenith dvd player made macro free with this change ,but very doubtful .

i also reckon the first two pairs of hex are the country codes ,,,i may be wrong ,,,if so i'm all ears .

COME ON FOLKS GET YOUR THINKING CAPS ON AND LETS SORT THESE HEXS CODES OUT ,BEFORE THE BIG BOYS DO ....

BEST REGARDS
SKIPPY .

This hack comes originally for a Sony DVP-M50, seems to the same as the Aiwa XD-AX36

1. Create a directory called RMTM0000 and a subdirectory in it called SCARLET

2. Create an empty file called KPJC19_1.DVD in this directory

3. Using a hex editor, edit the file KPJC19_1.DVD to contain four bytes in this order: 17 17 8C 00 . Save changes to the file.

Alternatively, download the file from http://www.math.uga.edu/~djb/html/kpjc19_1.dvd

4. Burn the directory RMTM0000/SCARLET containing the file KPJC19_1.DVD on a CD-R. Use the ISO-9660 format.

(I used Nero 6.0.0.9 >>> create data disk)

5. Insert the CD-R to DVD player. Press 0 and Enter to enable the multi-region.

I did this on my Aiwa XD-AX36 and it worked fine!
