Not happy with this card. Despite ATI site their support people say that Catalyst Media Center (which ships with the card) is not Vista compatible. Support also says an antenna needs an amplifier but don't say what gain. Had to fix a number of problems including messing with services to get the card to work at all. Using the card in XP was a decent experience. Vista was a lot nicer with its Media Center software, but no hardware audio. Comments posted by TranceWarp from United States, March 25, 2008: Compatibility: Win95? Win98? Win2K? WinXP Vista NT4? MAC? Linux? - Rated: 6 of 10. |

The hardware is great, now for the bad news. ATI's catalyst media center has a lot of troubles. Using XP64 Pro it behaves erratically. Yet when it is working it does a fair job for OEM software. Warning! the remote DOES NOT WORK with catalyst media center, now that just plan strange. I live 90 miles from DFW's TV towers and my HDTV is truly binary, it's either on or off unlike NTSC. I'm doing a lot of research before purchasing a retail software package. IMHO this capture card is designed to work with MS Media Center, which works with the ATI remote. I would suggest you really research the card before purchase. Their have been many new cards offer since then w/PCI-e. ATI/AMD website is not the place to research. Also the price of the add-on software is >50% of the purchase price for the ATI Theater package. Comments posted by Fenceman from United States, October 27, 2007: Compatibility: Win95? Win98? Win2K? I've been using this card along with my HIS Radeon x1950Pro under WinXP. There seems to be some issue with my Dell 30" LCD resolution of 2560x1600 for the video card and Direct3D, so I couldn't bring up the Catalyst Media Center (CMC). To make it work I had to lower the resolution or turn off the Direct3D/DirectX acceleration. The CMC's Electronic Program Guide (EPG) for TV was seemingly bolted on at the last second as it's not very good and lots of people have had a very hard time getting it to work downloading the TV schedule. I had this problem too though now it's working. It's basically the rebranding of Cyberlink software. I find that the inability to resize the window smaller than a certain size is a bad ideo. If you can, use SnapStream BeyondTV. It has a much better EPG and you can resize the window much smaller the CMC. I have had this card for several months now. I wasn't crazy about the ATI software so I started using Beyond TV 4. Works great. Thinking of buying a second card so I can record two shows at once.
