How to sync a subtitle using Subtitle Edit

Because I was so... "confused" when I had a discussion with a bunny about the ways to sync something and the software who we can use to do that, I decided to make a small tutorial about Subtile Edit.

How to Add Text Effects and Unicode Characters to MPEG-4 Subtitles

It has been an ongoing and frustrating problem for me to find a way to create satisfying, professional looking subtitles that will display with MPEG-4 files (DivX, XviD, etc) watched on a standalone DVD player - that is, subtitles with fully-formatted text effects, such as bold, italics, colours and, especially, Unicode characters (specifically, musical note symbols to signify song lyrics in the subtitles) - just like those of professionally-authored DVDs. It's taken many months of perusing dozens of forum threads, and much trial and error, but I've finally figured out a fairly simple and effective way to do it.

Batch Files for Ffmpeg to correct chroma shift etc.

How to use ffmpeg to Encode Video with Chroma Shift Corrected. If you have digitised video from older analogue sources like VHS or Hi-8 you will probably need to correct the inevitable chroma shift. Chroma drops vertically with any delay line processing as always used with PAL and often with NTSC. This gives a messy looking image with colour drooping and bleeding below the correct areas. See Chroma can also move sideways if there are processing errors. This again makes the colour bleed more on one side which makes it look much more blurred. See The GTH Electronics ACE solved that in hardware before video capture but all these effects can now be cured in software using Ffmpeg. To make this easy I have created some batch files which combine both vertical and horizontal chroma shift with encoding to MPEG-2 or MP4 at high quality, along with the audio. All values can be tweaked in the batch files easily. To make it simpler to find the best settings I have also made a batch file to play the video using Ffplay with options to tweak the shift parameters. These are all available with lots of other useful information here: Any questions please just ask me using the email address on this page.

LosslessCut vs SolveigMM Video Splitter

Lossless video editing allows you to make changes to your video files without sacrificing any of the original quality. Unlike standard editing, which re-encodes the video and can introduce compression artifacts, lossless editing preserves every pixel. This is crucial for maintaining pristine video quality, especially when working with high-resolution footage or archiving valuable content. Lossless editing also has the second advantage – the fast editing: the speed of editing in lossless tools is much more efficient than in ordinary editing apps. For anyone working with video, especially those who need to quickly trim or cut footage without sacrificing quality, lossless editing tools are indispensable. If you’re wondering how to cut videos without losing quality or how to merge videos without re-encoding, the key is to use a video editor that supports lossless cutting and merging.
