1. Switch on the DVD Player 2. Be sure, that there is no DVD in. 3. Press SETUP NEXT PREV NEXT PREV 4. Now, in the upper left corner you'll see a number. With UP an DOWN you can swith between the entrys and with LEFT and RIGHT you can change them: 5. Change your Regioncode with LEFT or RIGHT to 255 and it will be REGIONCODE FREE (e.g. from 2 to 255) 6. Change the entrys 3001 and 4001 to 3000 and 4000, and Macrovision 3 and 4 will be turned off | |||

I had problems with SVCDs: After inserting the disk, player reported "wrong disk" - pressing "display" revealed that the player recognized a SVCD though. To fix: -make sure no disk is in the drive -turn player on -press: setup-next-prev-next-prev -scroll down to "ver 5001" - change it to "ver 5000" (left/right cursor) -exit Now it played SCVDs correctly. Note: This appears to happen in newer models (mine is from July 2002). Another player, build in May 2002 did not have the "ver 500x" option at all, but played SVCDs out of the box. Just got one from CompUSA. I highly recommend Lenoxx DVD-2003 to anyone who wants the least hassle hacking the region code and macrovision. I did exactly what the previous post said. 1. DVD on 2. No disc 3. Press SETUP NEXT PREV NEXT PREV with remote. You'll see "VER 1" on the upperleft corner. 4. With LEFT and RIGHT you can change the value. Change it to 255 (Region Free) 5. With UP and DOWN you can move to the next item. The next ones are 3001, 4001, 5001. Change them to 3000, 4000, 5000. 3000 and 4000 turn off Macrovision. 5000 I haven't tried yet. | |||

Greetings all, I just wanted to thank the folks in this area who posted this hack! It works great! I powered up the machine, entered 'setup' 'next' 'prev' 'next' 'prev' and got the 'ver1' values up in the left hand corner, changed to 255. Also the 3000 and 4000 code changes definitely changed the macrovision output to, well there is no macrovision output anymore!! My Panasonic DMR-HS2 recorder works fantastic with this machine. Great deal, still stocking these at my CompUSA. Good luck! | |||

Okay, owners of the Panasonic E30...this is your machine! I haven't tried the region hack, but the macrovision hack is fantastico! Works perfect on every disc I've tried. Can't beat the price/availability/ease of hack. Get one and LOVE IT! | |||

I have bought 5 players already (4 were gifts) and each one hacked easily with the instructions listed. Must say the clarity of VCD's is MUCH sharper than either my Apex AD-600 or Apex AD-1500. I wished all players were as easy to hack as this one. I hope they keep this model around for a while so I can convince more of my friends to go region-free :-) The price, the hack-ability & the quality are great! | |||

Just wanted to give everyone a heads-up... I went to my local CompUSA today (3/29/04) and they had one left on the clearance rack (they had three there two days ago). Price was $49 and hacks worked perfectly. I'd advise anyone interested to hurry to your local CompUSA -- they may still have one or two. | |||
