As of Feb 28, 2003, I've tried this hack for AD-5131 and it works. I was scared to try it cuz i was afraid i might ruin my DVD player. I tried it on my DVD I bought from Thailand and it works!!!! Thank you guys. | |||

Hi Guys. I don''t know what happend to darrenk. He's weblink is CLOSED. I bought Apex AD5131 because of the region 0. I don't have any instructions now, just an useless code that is not recognized by the DVD player and I cannot get any firmware version... What's all about? | |||

Darren had a site running, with firmware that downloaded, as of November 25, 2003. Be advised that one of the firmware links as posted was not correct -- it was corrected in a later post. Check your address again, or go directly to Darren's site in Australia and use hisinternal navigation to get to the 5131 section... | |||

The CD hack I put on this player was partially successful. The part that was successful was that I could play a R2 DVD in the player, but the bad part was that the sound quit working on it. This is now a "electronic doorstop." | |||

For those looking for the region hack for the AD-5131, I just applied the one from darrenk last night, and it worked perfectly. His site is offline, so I had to get it from Google's wayback machine. Just search Google for 'wayback machine', then put 'http://www.nerd-out.com/darrenk/' in the search box. I picked the page from July 30, 2008. It's quite a lot of instructions, with pictures, and all the firmware files are still there for download.
