So I've been struggling with the whole GPS overlay thing for my bike trip videos. I shoot on a GoPro Hero 13 and was dreading the manual syncing process in DaVinci. I almost caved and got the GoPro subscription just to use their tool, but I hate monthly fees.
Anyway, I stumbled on something that actually works way better than I expected. I was using the free version of VSDC (the NLE, not the converter) for some basic cuts and noticed something wild. I dragged a GoPro file right from the card into the timeline, and a pop-up appeared asking if I wanted to use the GPS data to create a map. I was skeptical, but clicked yes. Within a minute, it had pulled all the coordinates and generated a clean, animated Google Maps overlay track. It auto-synced to the video and everything. No messing with .gpx files or anything. It also handled the HDR from the new camera without any weird color issues. I'm not here to shill for the software—I'm just a guy who hates complicated workflows. This literally saved me an entire afternoon of tedious work. The free version has a watermark on the map overlay, but the paid pro license is a one-time fee and way cheaper than a year of GoPro's sub. If you're into travel or action stuff and want to add a map without the headache, it's worth a test drive. Has anyone else found a decent workaround for this? Curious what the rest of you are using.

I finally found an editor with this functionality and it's not Adobe. Super opens my mkv files from the camera and does color correction. from the minuses I can say - this program has no minuses. the pluses are that it is free!!! without any watermarks and other restrictions the only thing disabled hardware acceleration, but I do not need it for my tasks.
I bought the pro version just to support the guys in the development of their product.

Some users complain VSDC is a commercial editor, but it actually isn't. When you export a project, the program offers an upgrade, but you can skip this step and have your video exported.
This is not a crucial point actually. What I appreciate is that I can finally edit my 360 videos. Panoramic shooting is kind of new experience for me, so I didn't want to spend extra — expensive camera, accessories, editor. VSDC converts 360 in 2d, so I edit my footage as a usual 2d video. At export step the program makes it 360 again.

I have bought the Pro Edition and am very happy as I got it for quite a lot less than $20 in the Winter Sales which Flash-Integro have on at the moment. $20 is not much to ask for anyway, for such an advanced video editor with lots of features. You do have to get used to how to use VSDC Video Editor but you should get the hang of it after looking at some guides and reading the manual, which Pro users get the download link for.
So if you can't afford much and you need a good stable video editor that you can do a lot with, then I recommend this one.
