| Just bought this writer for 136 CAN$ (tx included) Also got a 100 Kodak DVD-R 4x spindle since my old stand alone dvd player only plays those. But none of the kodak DVD-R would work and the writer would crash when trying to write to the disk. The led would flash but nothing would be written on the disk. The drive recognises the blanks, it just can't use them. Tested the unit with maxell dvd+r and worked fine. So i exchanged the kodaks dvd-r for kodaks dvd+r (they had no more dvd-r in stock) and they worked fine. Bad dvd-r batch? or compatibility issues with dvd-r? Don't know but since this drive can do 16x with dvd+r i'll just get a new dvd player with xvid support. I'm using nero ultra 6 that came bundled with the drive so i doubt the problem was software related. The drive also runs the latest firmware.
