In order for disappointment to be truly devastating, first grand promises have to be made. Forty Two manages both sides of this depressing equation masterfully. It appears to do everything you need: rip, convert, and prep your DVDs. It offers a slick setup interface, several nice adjustable options, support for subtitles, etc.
Then you run it, wait about 15 hours, and get an empty folder. Woohoo! I have been around the bend with this program and I canNOT get it to do anything. I have RTFM, I have installed the supporting applications, I have ensured that my directories don't have spaces in their names, etc ad nauseum.
Still NOTHING.
I will probably not be able to discourage you from enduring the pain that is Forty Two. If you have a need, there really isn't anything else out there in the Mac world that offers one-click DVD->VCD functionality. You're going to want to try it. I just hope you have better luck than I had.
Worst of all, this program appears to be the side project of a very busy person, perhaps two people. Don't expect any updates, support, or answers. |
