I got Pinnacle Studio 8 with my DVD burner. I have some 30 minute VHSC tapes to convert to DVD. I am running them through an ADVC-100 then to my computer. The first capture with PS8 went well with one dropped frame. The second tape however had 2200 dropped frames in the first 5 minutes. Don't know why. Had no luck improving that so tried Scenalyzer. No dropped frames. Almost bought it, but found WinDV. No dropped frames and it is free.
Authoring with PS8 is fairly easy. Adding menu and chapters is straightforward. The rendering and burning directly to dvd did not take as long as I thought it would. The DVD quality is good. About as good as the original tapes. Overall, except for the bad DV capturing, PS8 seems to be working ok. However, once in a while when I start PS8, I get the message that there is a problem and it has to close. I restart and it works fine. |
