It's very easy, but you need a "one for all" remote control. I had a "kamaleon 3 for 1" at home (it's very useful to control dvd, tv and decoder at the same time). but I guess it works also with all other models of "Kamaleon". To hack the DVDs33 you have to send this sequence of 10 commands with the DVD remote control: Enter, 6, >=10, << , XXXX, Audio, 8, 1, Subtitle, 4 The problem is that the 5th command (XXX) is not present on the panasonic remote. So you have to use the Kamaleon for sending just that command. We can call that command "1" instead of "XXX". In short: On the Kameleon: Choose [DVD], [Magic] long enoughfor the rabbit, [0490] to set for a Panasonic DVD. Then set up a special command by choosing [Magic] long enough for the rabbit, [994], [Magic] (only one quick press), [143], then choose a key to which the command will be assigned (I chose "1" on the keypad). then do the sequence using the Panasonic remote, and the Kameleon: Enter, 6, >=10, << (on Panasonic) 1 (on Kameleon) Audio, 8, 1, Subtitle, 4 (on Panasonic) Of course you have to send the commands on the dvd turned on with no disc (you will see the NO DISC on the screen while sending commands). WARNING...WARNING....WARNING...WARNING PLEASE DO NOT TRY THE HACK POSTED BY PANASITE. IT WILL LOCK YOUR DVD PLAYER COMPLETE (MINE DID!!!!! I HAVE A DUTCH MODEL) MY DVD PLAYER IS NOW USELESS!!!! (THANKS......) THERE IS AS FAR AS I KNOW NO OPTION TO RESTORE THE OLD FIRMWARE. please be careful with this especialy because this hack also exist for S54, S511 and S53. the filenames all end on .rom and the official panasonic one ends on .FRM | |||

Updated version of Francesco’s earlier 2007 posts. Use 2 remotes -- a Panasonic model (such as n2qAJB000069, n2qAHB000012, or veq2380) and a OneForALL remote (used a URC 2981 but others should work). Most of the required buttons are on the Panasonic remote so only a single feature needs to be programmed into the OneForAll. Set the OneForAll for basic control of a Panasonic player. Wait for the blinks to happen before continuing. On the OneForAll press these buttons DVD, Magic (2 blinks), 0490 (2 blinks). Check by turning the dvd player on & off, etc. Next, program the "service key" into the OneForAll's 0 button by pressing Magic (2 blinks), 994 (2 blinks), Magic, 001430 (2 blinks). Turn the S33 on, with No Disc in the tray. Press the keys on the 2 remotes in this order Panasonic remote: ENTER, 6, ≥10, << OneForAll remote: 0 panasonic remote: AUDIO, 8, 1, SUBTITLE, 4 If nothing happens try again. Press the keys about 1 every second. Turn the S33 off then on. Tested on region 2 Panasonic S33, now play dvds from any region (ntsc / pal). | |||
