Winff is a frontend for FFMPEG that runs on Windows XP to Windows 10 and Linux. It will convert most any video file that FFmpeg will convert. WinFF does multiple files in multiple formats at one time. You can for example convert mpeg's, flv's, f4v, and mov's, all into avi's all at once. F4V to AVI.

1 on drag drop, numfiles was not initialised. Could countain random
number, not actual files dragged and dropped
max number of jobs was not being incremented on dragdrop.
now, if you dragdrop and the file list goes > max number of jobs, we add
50 more rows to filelist.
note: file list is initially limited to 100 jobs because of the memory
overhead of maintaining arrays of the filenames, command lines, options
settings, etc
enhancement: added hint for file list showing number of files in queue
when cursor not over a filename

I've always found this an excellent front end for ffmpeg. It's very easy to customize, modify or build presets allowing for batch encoding and simplifying command line modifications.
It's also easy enough to swap out different ffmpeg versions-- say "normal" ffmpeg and ffmbc to gain specific functionality. Though one should be aware that, given the ever changing nature of ffmpeg, the presets are optimized for the included version

Reduced a 1.76 Gb .mov to a 475 Mb .avi with no big issues. It did alter the aspect ratio slightly but it plays well with my small memory vid card. Straight out of the box, as well. I didn't delve into any other settings. I don't know all there is to know about video construction and I realize it may not work well for others I'd like to resize smaller. Thanks

Tried winff (newest build) on an mp4. It crashed. Tried newest handbrake build, using ffmpeg rather than x264 to encode, on the same file. It worked perfectly.
Hmmm ... definitely not good.
On grounds of functionality or ease of use I just can't find a single reason to use this over avidemux or handbrake or a number of others.

Nice program. Interface is pretty good. Very good output. Doesn't dump flaky codecs into Windows, though I'd expect that from a Linux port.
It's not technically compatible with win7 ... apparently it's written in an open source pascal that's not available yet ... but I haven't had any problems.
While it looks easier than some, I find you still have to know something about formats. It's no Handbrake (or vidcoder) in that respect.
It's still pretty powerful. I'd recommend it.
But I've basically been using either Handbrake / Vidcoder or avidemux to convert. To me this is more of an avidemux alternative. I don't think winff is really resolved enough to make me stop using avidemux.
