Fantastic! Only one -R DL coaster so far.

Works just fine not one problem yet burned about 250 Disks so far 1 coaster but that was my computers fault.

It's an excellent burner when working,a little noisy but acceptable at this noise level ,somehow my burner acted up after 3 ms of use (bought one in Jan 06). VERY fast ripping and low error burning but all of a sudden it started to make coasters from left to right no matter what kind of discs I used (Verbatim DVD -R 8x, +R 16x, Ritek +R 8x, Maxell +R 8x), I replaced with my old Nec 2500 and the new Nec3550, worked just fine, so it turned out a bad one. Note that this Pioneer still worked fine with DVD + and - RW, I have no idea why it only work with Rewritable disc now.
I contacted Pioneer (since Newegg doesn't warranty this one, that explain about this particular Pioneer problems), they told me to send it in, it'll take 3 to 4 weeks to turn around, I probably will trash it since it'll cost me $10 to send in and chances it are it will go back and forth (found couple posts had a same problem as mine), a new burner now only cost me $37 shipped, good luck to all. I still love this burner due to FAST ripping but I probably won't buy another Pioneer burner again

pioneer dvr r100 with dvd shrink and occasionally ( for disney) dvd decryptor is a great investment. I bought this writer for under 55 at best buy (with a 49 dollar instant rebate) and it has worked on everything. 65 dvd's rented, 2 gave me problems via shrink so decrypter took over.

I am having an issue with my DVR-610. Whenever I try ripping or moving files directly from the CD as a drag n drop, my computer would reboot. I am ripping Bleach epsiodes on VCD. Anybody else run into issues like this? can anyone help me out at all?

Verbatim 8x DVD-R's not playable on Koss Ks-4110. Choppy on Samsung HD-841 Hi-Def player...

Way better than my DVR-109 and even better than my Plextor 740A. Burns all 8x media I've run into 4x, 6x, 8x or 12x. Nary a coaster. The ripping speed is improved over the DVR-109, too, which is great.

I bought DVR-110D from ZipZoomFly.com. It came with 1.17 firmware. I tried to burn a couple Ritek DVD+R DL disks:
Manufacturer: Ritek RiData
Manufacturer Part#: DRD+85-RDIW-CB25
Media ID: Ritek D01
Layer 1 was fine, but Layer 2 had a lot of errors and the disks were almost unplayable.
Upgrading the firmware to latest ver.1.39 resolved the problem completly.

I've just bought one and applied DVR-110 firmware. Now, it can burn DVD-RAM at 5x. This is the difference between DVR-110 and DVR-110D. If you want, you can:
1) Download DVRFlash to force a upgrade, even if drive is different than firmware (http://lasvegas.rpc1.org/DVRFlash_v2.2_win32.zip)
2) Download DVR-110 firmware 1.22 (http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_file.php?site=tdb1&file=A10_122.ZIP)
3) Run DVRFlash -ff <drive> RA143010.122 RA143110.122 at command prompt.
4)It' will be done after a reboot.

Do all above at your own risk!!!!

Good luck.

I have a question. What is the difference between Pioneer DVR-110d, DVR-610, and DVR-R100?

After buring 2 Ridata G05's at 8x no problem, decided to update the FW from 1.17 to 1.37 and now it WILL NOT READ THEM!!!! Piece of JUNK!!!!!

WARNING: Do not update to FW v 1.37 if you use Ridata/Ritek G05.

This DVR-110D replaced a Pioneer DVR-A07 which was doing a great job. Have had the 110 just a few days but have ripped and burned several discs with it. It is noticably quieter and but only a little faster than the A07. I wanted a DL capability, hence the upgrade (A07 to go to my sones machine). I have used Imation 4.7 8X for all burns so far. It burned most at 8X but a couple at 12X (all from same retail 30 disc cake box).

Comments posted by Paul Hamilton from United States, December 28, 2005. Rated this writer 8 of 10.

The drive shipped with v1.11 firmware. Failed to recognize Memorex 8x DVD-Rs when loaded and would error immediately on trying to burn with both Nero 7 and Sonic RecordNow DX. Intalled the v1.37 firmware and now the Memorex DVD-Rs work. Highly recommend installing v1.37 firmware or greater as it seems to provide better media read/write compatibility. Just got this drive a week ago, but it has worked fine with all media I have tried. Burned 8x Sony, Imation, Nexxtech, and Maxell at 12x. No coasters in 25 burns. Nice and quiet, though a bit slow reading retail cds. All in all a good buy.

Comments posted by Mike Barker from United States, December 19, 2005. Rated this writer 9 of 10.

The problem is more than likely with my machine. When I bought the Drives (3) they work fine, no coasters, as soon as I upgrade the F/W the computer won't boot, the problem may be AnyDvd is running but I use AnyDvd all the time and other Burners work fine. I bought a Plextor PX-740A and it works great.

Reaction time seems slow. Had two DVR 110D's installed on my brand new high end machine running XP Pro, have burnt a few CDs and DVDs using TDK discs, no problem there, nice and quick. However I have found both drives VERY SLOW to react to music CD's (retail not home burned). On average it takes about 20 secs before they seem to react. Updated firmware - no change

Comments posted by Brian from Australia, November 25, 2005. Rated this writer 8 of 10.

I'm using a DVR-110 in a G4 iMac. Bought from SVP for less than £40.

very fast, pretty quiet and has so far handled TDK 8x DVD-R, Taiyo Yuden 8X DVD-R, Philips 4X DVD+RW with no coasters. Haven't tried DVD-RAM yet.

Far better than the Sony drive it replaced.

Excellent writer ($40), burn Verbatim DVD+R DL(6X) at 8X. Pioneer is known to burn generic brand at lower speed for high compatibility. Why would you want to use cheapo disks for your important data anyway.

My 4 years old Sony DVD player reads this DVD+R DL w/o issue.

Hi, i have this Pioneer DVR-110D for a week now.
Already burned a dozen of dvds (all were dvd-r 8x tdk scratchproof [TTH01]), at various speed (4x to 12x) [yes this drive can burn TTH01 8x DVD-R TDK scratchproof at 12x with no problems !] which all played flawlessly on my dvd players.
I was amazed by the dvd reading speed of this drive. My previous drive was a SONY DRU-500AX and this PIONEER is 3 times faster for that.
Quiet drive. Haven't try audio cd ripping so far.
This PIONEER rocks.

Comments posted by alexgeo from France, November 17, 2005. Rated this writer 9 of 10.

Media compatibility seems to be a huge problem with this drive. It would seem that only the absolutely highest quality media is acceptable for this drive as I have absolutely tons of quality issues when using even 2nd tier disks (as seen on www.nomorecoasters.com) I've tried the RITEK G03 Maxell 8x DVD+R's at 8x, 6x and 4x and had no quality rating above 50 using nero cd/dvd speed. I have yet to try anything first tier though, as they are extremely hard to track down.

Comments posted by Thracky from Canada, September 16, 2005. Rated this writer 5 of 10.

OK, I'd like to ammend my original statement regarding ripping speed. My original rip was of Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the rings, but this seems to be a one off problem.

Since then I have ripped numerous disks including a 6.88Gb movie which took 9mins 54secs to complete and a 3.74Gb movie which took 4mins 41secs.

I have to say this baby rocks. Not a single coaster and the drive is really quiet compared others I have owned. Gotta say, so far I have nothing but praise although, I've still only tried Ritek 8X DVD-R disks, I'd thoroughly recommend this drive to anyone.

Next step is dual layer disks at 8X baby!

Comments posted by Whitey from Australia, August 15, 2005. Rated this writer 9 of 10.

So far I have only burnt 2 Ritek DVR-R 8X disks, but with no problems whatsoever. Unfortunately the burner seems to be reading all DVD-ROM's at 8X meaning ripping takes about 26 mins to complete. I hope this is a something that can be fixed easily, but so far the usual tricks aren't working. Hmm maybe already in need of a firmware fix.

More to follow.....
