Easy Turn Unit On Enter 9753 On the flyout menu: Region, There are only 6 Regions and a weird one on top of region 1. Choose the weird one Exit setup and done. Tested R2 and R1 successfully. I have no other region Dvds to test. Hope that helps

++++++++++PLEASE READ++++++++++++ I used the above hack on my machine- since I was the one who posted the it.... My player after a couple of turn on and turn offs using the button instead of the remote, is now stuck and it says close in the front window. It stays closed and had to use a screwdriver to open it up and get my dvd out of there. I am not sure if the code malfunctioned it or not, but instead of choosing the weird option for region code, you may try to use one of the valid ones instead and change it based on the dvd each time. The above hack does work, but again I am not sure if it killed my machine. I am getting a RJ-Tech instead. Good Luck

I tried the hack by drew310 and it worked fine, however the player gets stuck with "CLOSE" on the front display if you turn it off with the switch on the front panel. A remedy for this situation which worked for me was to: 1. Turn the unit on, wait for "CLOSE" to stay on the front panel display. There will be NO VIDEO on the TV. 2. Press SETUP on the remote, and use the owner's manual (available at www.insignia-products.com) to blindly navigate to the factory reset option. The player should operate normally after this, with the region hack still working. To get around the freezing problem, only use the remote to turn the unit off.

*****************PLEASE READ THIS********************** I forgot to mention that the code posted by drew310 is wrong; this is the correct version: 1. Turn on player, open tray. 2. Press 9735 on the remote, NOT 9753 as drew310 says. 3. Select the weird option for region code (this will not do any harm; see my warning above) 4. Press SETUP on the remote to exit. Remember to NOT USE THE POWER BUTTON ON THE UNIT (see my last post); only use the power button on the remote. |
