Power up the player and open the tray. With the tray open, hit the setup button and then 0000 and then the "Up" button. On the Setup menu, go to Version and hit enter. Go to region code and change the number to 0 for region free and hit setup again to save. | |||

This great unit comes with 5-channel decoder, amplifier and 5 speakers + sub - all for around $120 retail. It has component output and the S/Composite signal is selectable for true PAL or NTSC (or auto) from the setup menu so you can play PAL DVDs on an NTSC TV with proper aspect ratio. It plays DVD+R and +RW, DVD-R and DVD-RW, JPEG and MP3. This machine does practically everything once you've hacked it. The other published hacks don't work on some models marked 4Q 2002 and later. The hack below has been tested on 2 different 4Q 2002 and one 1Q 2003 set. Power up the player and open the tray. Press the SETUP button. The setup menu appears. Press ZERO on the remote control four times - 0000 Press the CHAPTER FORWARD button - the one on the bottom right of the remote control unit that looks like a double arrow with a bar. A new menu item appears, "Version". There is a REGION option you can select, and this can be set to zero "0" for all regions. Once you see it's set to region 0, press SETUP to exit, close the tray and power off. When you power up again, it's region free. RCE disks work fine in this unit. To recap - open the tray, press setup, press 0-0-0-0, press Chapter Forward, select Version, choose 0 for region free, press setup again. Enjoy! | |||

I tried the two procedures and my Home Theater System doesn't work, but I found a new one, very similar to the others: 1) Turn on the System 2) Open the tray 3) Press "setup" button 4) Press four time the number "8": 8888 5) Press the "Next Chapter" button (>>|) 6) Appear a menu called "Setup Factory" 7) Select with the cursor movement key "Region All" 8) Press "setup" button to save de changes.
