This is a great tool. the only thing that's missing is better subtitle support and multiple audio streams for mkv files. I use this in combination with tsMuxer and mkvMerge.

This is an excellent programm!
And it's very easy to use it...
Thank you very much !!!

Just 2 "things":
1) Why i don't have the "CERTIFICATE" folder ? (AVCHD option)
2) WHY it's working for my desctop (vista home premium), but not for my laptop (vista basic)?I haven't installed any other codecs.

This is a very versatile piece of software. I had previously used this to successfully convert hd-dvds and bluray to mkv with 5.1 surround sound. Just yesterday I realized it had the ability to take a preexisting mkv file with subtitles and convert it to a hardcoded mp4 file. My ultimate destination for this is my ZUNE. Unfortunately it doesn't go to wmv but the zune software will take the mp4 from ripbot and convert it so my zune 30gb will play it. And the best part is the subtitles are intact on the converted file (zune doesn't support selectable subtitles that I know of so they must be hardcoded). This standard def support to go "backwards" so to speak adds another great dimension to this excellent software. Plus it has batch encoding to boot (plus great feature that as you add consecutive files it remembers your initial settings from your first encoding profile you set for the current batch - though you have to manually select the subtitle for each video - but it automaticlly detects the srt file that was in the mkv - soft sub that it hardcodes into the resulting mp4 file). ALL in all great software - kudos to the developers - only downside is the insistance on turning off uac controls on vista - wish it didn't do that....

Only other downside to me is some labeling doesn't seem to be as straight forward - some selection buttons aren't marked and you have to explore a little to find some settings - but overall well laid out and relatively intuitive aside from that minor detail....

I just upgrade from 1.14.2 to 1.14.3. And boy, what a difference. Very pleased with the new 1.14.3 version.

I like that 64bits x264 is now ON by default. I used to have to replace the 0 with 1 to take advantage of 64bits computing.

// it will use 64bit version of x264 on 64bit Windows. Up to 10% faster encoding speed. May not work sometimes.
Usex264x64=1

1st pass speed is almost twice as fast as previous version 1.14.2, jumps from 15fps to 27-35fps (this is decent for a dual core cpu encoding at 1920x800). The only complain i have is the 2nd pass. No improvement over previous version 1.14.2. Still stuck between 5~6fps on 2nd pass.

I love ripping bluray to 1080p mkv. Auto crop, 2-pass @ 16,000bitrate. xXcopy audio stream

I have windows vista ultimate 64-bits.
Intel E8500 dual cores OC to 4.22ghz
4gb g.skill 1066mhz ddr2

I would love it if x264 engine improve the speed on 2nd pass. Anyway, great work and keep up the great job.

Well the new version starts and finishes.
The previous version (1.14.0) works for me without a problem.

Great tool. Functionality is fantastic. Does what is says and I had no problem with PS3 streaming compatibility. The status bar is a little hard to read (low contrast) but that is just nit-picky.
One suggestion though (I guess it is really two): Accept a raw (already De-Muxed VC1) stream and Output (without muxing in audio) a RAW h.264 file. I end up using the video.264 file instead of the mp4 output file. Or even better, mux the raw video and converted AC3 audio to an m2ts container (would save me a step).

Hi all,
many thx to this fantastic tool. I've used it for a couple of month and i have to say it creates superb results.
The only thing i discovered lately with the latest version corrupt audio with evo files. Since i'm from time to time converting HDDVDs it was no problem with former versions of ripbot264. With the latest version it seems that E-AC3 sound can not be converted or separated into proper 5.1 AC3 sound. I do not get after demuxing in ripbot an option saying 5.1. sound available. only 2 channel sound and if i choose that my dvico 6500 won't play sound at all? On the other hand on the pc the sound is there but seems not a proper standard format.
Any suggestions to that?
thx so much

This is a truly great program that finally does what people have wanted (converting hd-dvd/Blu-Ray with ease). I was using 1.10.5 for a while and had absolutely no issues.

I have finally upgraded to 1.11.0 and well it's a bit dodgy for me. It will skip the video encoding aspect and create nothing. A restart of the program will sometimes fix it, but overall it's quite annoying.

Other than this gripe with the latest version, I have nothing but praise for this fine little piece of free software.

I have successfully "backed" up several Blu-Ray DVDs with no problems and excellent results. It even does a great job with subtitles. I have done backups with it set to a file size limit to fit on a DVD9 and it worked flawlessly. Excellent tool.

Awesome app; I use it daily.

This comment is just for info for those receiving mp4box errors when converting. You can download the latest mp4box app, place it in the tools/mp4box folder within your ripbot264 installation directory, and the errors will no longer occur.

Very easy to use but there are a few down sides and include:

1) takes hours to render the outgoing video.
2) while using and after exiting the program my BD and DVD drives couldn't read discs (PC restart fixes this).

This tool does a terrific job of ripping DVD's and Blue Rays offering tremendous results with an easy to use format. While I wish it offered more avisynth options, it does a great job with what it does offer and lives up to it's description of giving you an easy way to back up (already decrypted) Blue Ray files into 26 files with a wide range of options. The previous comment from December of last year is for an old version. The new one has versions for conversion up to 640kb audio.

Does what it says it will. Only problems I see are:

1. No pause button. Encoding to h.264 takes a long time ripping from a DVD. So a pause
button could really come in handy.

2. No audio bitrate option for more than 128.

3. Subtitles. I didn't see a way of manipulating font size, color, etc. I guess an
external subtitle editor is needed.

Overall, thumbs up for a cool little program that costs nil.

very nice tool for PSP and console encoding, has all the function of megui, but is far simpler. Also includes the AQ (adaptive quantization patch) which many feel improves the issue of blocking in high bitrate encodes (if you dont like, it can of course be turned off).

a great bit of software for console and general 264 encoding.
