MKVtools/ AVITools/ MP4Tools |
MKVtools (former known as MoKgVm2DVD) is an OS X application that I originally developed to provide the tools needed to prepare .ogm and .mkv files for use in DivX enabled DVD players. It's capabilities have now been expanded to include the conversion of .mkv and .ogm videos into .mp4 files with presets for iPod/iPhone. Presets for Apple TV, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are also included but due to my limited ability to test on these platforms, they should probably be considered beta. MKVtools, as the name sort of implies, is a graphical interface for a variety of tools useful for processing .mkv and .ogm video files. Donate to get rid nag screen.

$4.99? What a bargain! Converts those pesky mkv's into H264/MP4's -including- the subtitles. Maintains quality and provides enough config choices to fit my requirements perfectly. This app should definitely be part of your toolbox! BTW: The $4.99 cost is only to remove the "nag screen" and provide batch capabilities; but the tool works so well, why not support the author to encourage further development?

What I like about this app is that you don't have to buy it to fully test it. It's not crippleware. It works quite well under 10.6 It's limited, It's not ffmpegx. But it does a quick job and it does it well. I've converted tons of HD mkv videos that don't play at all under xmbc on xbox to a playable format that could. It hasn't let me down so far. It beats the hassle of using cli tools like Mencoder and Mplayer and ffmpeg

Totally useless program(s) OLD & NEW! Seller did not offer to fix or resolve, would not return fees. Cheap $5 for software. PayPal does not reimburse on this type of transaction. Seller scams alot of people for $5 and no one gets their money back! BEWARE. Sounds too good to be true - probably is.

Simply: Want to to get .mkv files to play on the mac that won't play in VLC? Want to burn in the subtitles and transcode .mkvs to an .avi file, suitable for burning to DVD using Toast Titanium? Get this app, it has been a GodSend to enable me to do the above and has saved me time, headaches, and got me on the couch watching my favorite Anime and H.264 content that much faster! Worthy addition to your toolbox, mac users!!
