This is an amazing tool. I just used it to back-up a disc that contained several episodes of a TV show and it worked perfectly. I had tried DVDShrink (which I use all the time and get pretty good results with), but after removing all the unwanted items (such as extra audio tracks, etc.) the compression was still very obvious. Used DVDRebuilder to re-encode the episodes on the DVD and it came out looking terrific - pretty much the same as the original. I used the highest quality setting for the encoding (with on of the free encoders that came with it) and it took about 6 hours, so it takes a while. But for the quality it produces I'd rather let it run those 6 hours (run it at night) than sacrifice the quality using a program that takes a couple of hours but produces poor quality back-ups.
I highly recommend this tool. And the best part is..... it's FREE! Many, many thanks to the author. |
