Give credit to Microsoft for creating a very easy to use tool for creating home movies. I experimted with a number of products:
(a) Cyberlink PowerDirector
(b) Ulead VideoStudio
(c) EditStudio
I trialed each by loading a file captured from my DV camera, and then attempted create a chapter by assembling clips, adding titles and credits, and saving as DV-AVI.
I don't want special affects, complex transitions, merging of multiple audio sources, etc etc. Simple transitions and simple creation of title and credits were all I really wanted.
When all is said and done, I found MovieMaker 2 to be the fastest and easiest to use. The results look fine. I give credit to EditStudio for offering a bit of control over movie creation. If I was really interested in full control, I would consider it. Surprisingly, I found the other "easy to use" products to be un-intuitive.
