Tried it on vobs of total 7.x Gig to see how well it could compress it to fit all in a dvd-r. Took 6 hours to convert to rat file, and another 3 hour to convert rat file to vobs for authoring. The resulted DVD:
-appears to be much "washed out", lost a lot of details.
-macro blocks quite noticeable, pretty bad inter block noises.
-doesn't look like it has been converted to 1/2D from full D, but the perception to me with all those macroblock noises, over smoothing of neighbouring pixels (lost details) is worse than a 1/2D conversion done by for eg QuEnc, Rejig, or Tsunami.
I was looking for an alternative to DVD-rebuilder but so far have not found one that performs better than the QuEnc, or at least equal to Tsunami. Not recommended if all you want is to shrink a DVD. |
