TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5, now can it get better than this, yes with version 1.6 which is the same as 1.5 except for dual layer 8.5GB support, but for now I am talking about 1.5 4.7GB. This is a small program with big features, the best feature is editing cutting tool for mpeg clips. I use this program to take out commercials out DVR recording or bad clips in camcorder shots.
TMPGEnc DVD Author is faster than even the Ulead DVD Author Workshop 2.21, which I also use because unlike Ulead which will take any SVCD, VCD, MPEG1, MPEG2 movie or TV show and burn it as a DVD, but with TMPGEnc DVD Author it won't let you do that, it has to be a VCD or MPEG1 or MPEG2 or else it won't work, meaning it's not standard.
So TMPGEnc DVD Author is for those quick PCTV recordings with commercials and if you want to turn your smaller MPEG to VOB to burn in Nero Express as miniDVD onto CD-R or CDRW. Otherwise you can use your VOB and burn it with TMPGenc DVD Writer tool and it has many features there you can erase DVDRW quick before you burn a new image on them.
One thing about this program again compared to the expensive Ulead DVD Author Workshop 2.21, is TMPGenc DVD Author is quicker to create a new DVD than it with the Ulead program.
For creating fancy DVD style menus with sound I would go with Ulead DVD Author Workshop it has more features and yes it can use your capture cards, but not with BT WDM drivers it won't work.
Yes TMPGEnc DVD Author can create somewhat fancy menu more basic templates than the Ulead program, but I haven't seen TMPGEnc DVD Author crash yet like Ulead does. Oh Ulead DVD Author Workshop needs a lot of RAM where TMPGEnc DVD Author does not.
On the whole TMPGEnc DVD Author is quick, no sound sync problems here, everything works except it doesn't like you to mix formats together.
If you can live without that, then this is a program you should try out.
