I have no need much of encoders as I use MakeMKV, but if I need to use something Rebuilder is my first choice for dvd re-encoding and the ability to run an Avisynth script alongside to lightly denied or soft sharpen the image. I'm one of those who thinks HCencoder surpasses CineCraft Encoder's quality some of the time, but equal to it at least at others. Even shrinking DVD's to 85% using CloneDVD/Dvd Shrink has given me noticeably visible artifacts, so I never use these anymore.
Dvd Rebuilder with HCencoder vbr is my way to go as I've had terrific results. After comparing the recode with the original none of friends could spit any differences and thought the recode was the original. I recoded a Divimax high bitrate dvd to single 4.35gb disc and it looked like perfect HD upscaled on my 50" 4k tv. The wonders of Avisynth and a good encoder! Thanks. |
