TMPGEnc DVD Author is an excellent utility. I had been using an older version for a couple of months and recently upgraded to the latest version with the AC3 plugin for $89. Let me tell you, the AC3 plugin is a god-send. I simply can not imaging DVD authoring being any easier than this program makes it. The interface is simple and usually self explanitory.
There are a couple of very minor bugs and desired functions that are not present, but I still love this software. The biggest bug that I have encountered is that occasionaly, when playing a video in edit mode, I recieve the error "Audio Playback stopped. Your CPU is not powerful enough" or something along those lines.
Desired functions that are not present include the ability to have a simple audio track play with a still menu background and frame editing rather than GOP editing. Presently, there are ways to get audio to play with a still menu background, but they are a bit complicated for my tastes. The GOP style editing used in TMPGenc DVD Author often places limits on the level of detail to which you can clip video segments.
All in all, however, this program is a great value and stands out head and shoulders above the overpriced and overcomplicated competition. |
