Older versions worked fine for me, but using its last version before development stopped it fails to complete 2 pass using Mencoder converter mkvfiles to xvid.

I'm particularly impressed by both its avi and h264 output qualities. Yes, it has a few bugs, lacks a few things like audio normalisation or ivtc capability and some form of interlace/hybrid detection, despite that it still works nicely overall. I'm going to try this out on Windows 11 later.

Yeah its srt option is buggy. Doesn't Handbrake have subtitle problems too as many out there do? There are quite a few other Mencoder related bugs too or GUI? The cropping option is very hit and miss as well. On the whole good software. It makes avi's of a high quality and its H264 file output is Handbrake comparable. It will probably still work in Win11 in a portable environment. Pity development stopped as it was worthy of donation.

A very good video converter and very easy to use. Unfortunately, it can't burn subtitles into a video file, even though it says it can. When you preview the output video the subtitles displays correctly, but once you finish the encoding the subtitle aren't burn/add into the video. This happens no matter if you use mencoder (as suggested) or not.

TEncoder can rewrap/convert containers without reencoding/re-encoding (though you can reencode/re-encode if you like). It's very intuitive.
TEncoder works on Windows 10 and can run multithreaded so it's very fast on multi-core PCs.
It can rewrap (with or without reencoding) TS, MTS, M2TS & other file types to MP4, AVI, MPEG, MOV, MKV, FLV, WMV, WEBM, & 3GP containers. Note however that not all audio and video formats can be used inside of all container-types (see Wikipedia's article on "Comparison of video container formats"). So you can't necessarily rewrap every file-type or container-type to any other container type without reencoding. Some file types would need to be reencoded. (But it can rewrap TS, MTS, M2TS, and FLVs to MP4 without reencoding, which is what I needed.)
TEncoder can rewrap a single file ("Add File"), or a folder ("Add Folder"), or a hierarchical directory ("Add Folder Tree"). Note however that when TEncoder scans a directory or tree, it finds most audio & video file types (like TS, MTS, M2TS, MPG, WMV, FLV, AVI, MKV, 3GP, M4A, MP3, FLAC, WAV, & AC3, but not WMA) and lists those files for your review before encoding. Unfortunately, TEncoder can't be forced to search only for specified file types (like .MTS only). But you can remove any of the listed files that you don't want to convert. (Not a problem for my needs.)
TEncoder leaves the original files in place, unchanged. You can output the converted files to the source directory or to a different directory.
If you want to retain the original recording/creation date, then go to Settings/Encoding and checkmark "Copy date info from source", otherwise it will get changed to the conversion date.
If you don't want to reencode, then on the main page choose:
Video Codec: Direct Copy
Audio Codec: Direct Copy
Encoder: FFMpeg
Container: MP4 (Or whatever container type you want).
Since my personal camera/camcorder videos don't have subtitles, I had to uncheck "Enable Subtitles", otherwise it failed.

I just downloaded v4.5 and the about windows and file version still displaying v4.4.0.4773 instead v4.5.

Almost perfect, super stable, easy UI, full featured converter. It just miss one feature, does not support join files with same properties in direct copy (without quality lose). I hope to see this in a future version.

Nice and simple tool.
But:
* I miss to store the custom arguments in the profiles.
* Where is the documentation?
* Fails the two pass mode for MEncoder (Unknown suboption pass)

I test all kinds of X264 software encoder that appears, but always look a software was just "click and go".
With TEncoder I finally found this.
Simple and efficient.
Not everyone has the knowledge to use AviSynth scripts and on my country (Brazil)increased peoples numbers making their own videos for Youtube. This software is the right choice.
In both forums OS/OI (Portuguese), I recommend this software for everyone.
By the way, I'm doing a tutorial showing how easy use of TEncoder.

Doesn't seem to be able to output correct aspect ratios on XVid, FLV, or Mpeg2 outputs from PAL mpeg2 sources - everything seems to come out at 5x4 with bars regardless of the original's aspect ratio or the output settings. Having said that, the quality looks pretty good at low bitrates and speed wasn't too bad, so I'll be keeping a lookout for future updates.
