This is WAY faster than every other DVD creator I've tried (all the free ones)!

You can still download older versions here:

See my other post below for which ones to use....

Review by swallis7 on Jan 31, 2016 Version: DeVeDe 3.16.9 build 7 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

I have used DeVeDe in Windows 10/7/XP for years and it is great!!

For you Windows users, I strongly recommend DeVeDe 3.16.9 build 7
as the newer versions do not seem to work properly.

Also, sometimes when adding "troublesome" video files that make the above version crash,
or if you want to add video(s) using "This file is already a DVD suitable MPEG-PS file",
you need to use DeVeDe 3.12.2

I hope this helps you Windows users out there!!

Couldn't be any easier to use for basic DVD creation but also plenty of advanced options for the power user. Menu creation is simple and the menus look great. Supports srt subtitles and has accepted every file I have thrown at it. Great app!

For the Windows version 3.17, it did not work at all. Trying to download via Firefox (latest updates) refused the download. I tried the Windows developer's site only to see downloads via bit torrent sites. Sorry, I don't trust that. Using another browser, I managed to get it from here.

It installed OK, but when I tried to run it, a warning box opened stating something about installation failed, try re-installing. I did that with no luck. Because I'm using Windows XP Pro SP 3, I may try an older version.

First off, the program did not run. It loaded fine, then none of the buttons responded. This apparently was a conflict with Daemon Tools Lite. After getting it to function, I found it very difficult to set paths in the program. It kept telling me that maybe I didn't have permission to write to whatever directory. I changed the path manually with some difficulty, since the window disappeared once I released the mouse. Same directory woes. That's crap as I found it was writing to the directory, just reporting it wasn't.

I rate the ease of use as 6, since I thought the interface seemed well layed out. Couldn't rate it higher because of the directory issues.

Functionality is a 2, since it didn't get off the ground.

Value is 5. It's free and hopefully it will get better.

I have had trouble with a few non standard mp2 files that were crashing every software I tried to fix them with, but DeVeDe came to my rescue. This simple All In One DVD Converter did the job and it is free.

Finally a good free alternative to Nero Vision.
I gave a valiant attempt to get AVStoDVD to compile my mp4 files to DVD. Wouldn't finish. Non-existent error recovery or reporting.

Then looked thru VideoHelp for an alternative and discovered DeVeDe. What a difference. Worked first time w/o errors or crashing.

Excellent proggie.

Great App,

Simple easy to use yet tweakable for those who know the intricacies of mencoder. Accepts both my camcorder DV and MJPEG Digicam files and does a good job of formatting and encoding them to DVD compliant MPEG-2. Has the capability for menus (I don't use them) and will accept .mpg files that are ready to author without being converted. A small but mighty app with few dependencies, Well Done!

This has to be the easiest tool in Linux, for creating a DVD.
I've been using DeVeDe since version 1.4, and it gets better and faster with each new release.

Try it, you'll not be disappointed.

Review by Linuxuser on Feb 24, 2007 Version: 2.11 OS: Linux Ease of use: 10/10 Functionality: 10/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 10/10

What a great app!

I put together an extension for konqueror called konqkonv to convert movies to DVD under Linux but DeVeDe is miles better as it can combine multiple clips, for a start, and it gives you the finished iso too. DeVeDe is by far the easiest way yet to create video DVDs under Linux and I can't see how it could ever get much easier, especially seeing as you can install DeVeDe with a click if its in your distro (its in the debian-multimedia repository for one)

I must come clean that I have been the main tester for this immortal app and every time I found a bug or missing feature Sergio (the developer) would fix or add it almost instantly- what a star! Thanks Sergio!

The only real notable feature absent from the current version (2.3) that I can think of is if you feed an already DVD-compliant mpeg file into it (eg as output from xdtv or mencoder) it will convert it regardless. This will be fixed for 2.4 but then again that situation will probably be less common.

Highly recommended!
