This is an impressive tool. At the price, doubly so. It is very narrow in focus, being dedicated solely to masking and compositing, but it has quite a range of skills in this area, including chromakeying, rotoscoping and various other tricks. Compositing is as much an art as it is a science (possibly more so), so the interface is complex for beginners, although given what the program can do, surprisingly clear. You can, with patience, create traveling mattes, extract complex forms, pull green screens etc. Rough results can be achieved very quickly, refining takes time. This is not because of the program, but because of the process. After Effects won't make it happen any quicker.

If you need to do keying on a budget, this is a great place to start. It does not have the type of motion graphics capabilities or plugin support of After Effects or Combustion, but then it also does not have their price tag.

My only issue has been with some files using the Load via AVS functionality have not then saved correctly, giving wildly accelerated output. Seems to be an issue with mpg-2 input especially. However if you use better suited formats for input (lossless compression preferred) the results can be very good.
