	Comments posted by C from United States, February 25, 2006: I would like to confirm the fact that SONY has begun to use TYG02 DVD-R media. As I've said over here already in the CDFreak's forum: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.php?p=1292991&postcount=105 You need to look for certain things in order to give you the highest chance that you are purchasing TY and not Sony's own media. Basically, to reiterate my post, you need to look for the following things: a) Sony DVD minus R b) It's speed is rated 1-8X c) MIJ d) OCTAGONAL SPACER (this is a pretty good indication you have TY) e) if you can, look for the GG000xxx code by shifting the top disc around and holding the pack at a different angles (this is rather difficult to do and takes time but this will guarantee you that it is TY media) BTW, I did pick up this 50 pack at Best Buy and in my local Walmarts, all they had were alott of Sony DVD-R MIJ made by Sony themselves. If you find some at Walmart, you can always bring in the newspaper advertisement and ask for a pricematch (I've done this before and they will do it). 	Comments posted by terryj from United States, January 21, 2006: How Happy a Suprise i got buying these! Staples had the Sony DVd-R's on sale this week for $14.95, but they are the 'Made in Taiwan" inferior discs. Since they were Out of Stock, I took the ad over to Wal-Mart, and had them price match for these, which say MADE IN JAPAN on the label. DVD Media Inspector reads these as Taiyo Uden, and sure enough, they act like true Taiyo Uden 8x discs. Toast allows for 12x burn on these, and they burn flawlessly, without incident. Have burned full disc, and video quality is excellent, no problems. Watch for sales on these, and make Wal-Mart price match. These are higher at Wal-Mart ( $25 for 50 discs), so I don't reccomend buying them regularly at Wal-Mart's prices. But WlaMart seems to be the only ones carrying MADE IN JAPAN Sony Discs, not the cheap MADE IN TAIWAN ones. Additional information: Purchased from: Pricematch to $14.95 at WalMart Date purchased: January 2006 Burnt with Pioneer DVR-109 / DVR-A09 / DVR-509 at 8x using firmware 1.58. Media color is Silver.
