Some 'inside' info for this player: Uses the well-known DVD decoder chip MediaMatics NDV8601. Chip has progressive scan, but this cannof be activated by the firmware:-( Encoding is done using the NEC D61051. All is bound together using some JVC propriaty chip and a Maxtor DiamondMax 16 (80Gb). Nice player, software not very good but stable. Image a little bit fuzzy, other sites blame the NDV8601 for this. All-in-all a very usable player/HDD recorder, but software is only usable the non-fearless. | |||
