CVD? $60 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: It plays DVD-R fine, and DVD-RW I have to put it in 2-3 times and then it will see the disc, and play it fine. (Burning with Nero, disc can go FF or RW at 8x, but burning with DVDit (sonic) on can go FF at 2x. - Nero as always is the best burning ROM)

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: I think it's great! I just wanted to add that mine DOES play DVD+RWs, because up top it says it doesn't. I used both HP and SONY DVD+RWs and Verbatim DVD+Rs. Haven't tried DVD-Rs yet. One hiccup though, when first opened and played all was fine, then about a month later it started skipping a lot. I tried dusting the lens and nothing really happened. Then I totally took apart and used it in my computer as a PC-DVD rom and it did the same thing (skipping) but then opened it up to see if maybe something was on the track inside but saw nothing, but it all back together and now it works like a dream. I like it.

N/A 8 of 10 Comments: works great with generic DVD-R and DVD-RW, there might be some compatability issues with the DVD-RW but, all the kinds I used worked perfectly......... vcd works with all the cdrw and cdr media ive used(mostely cheap stuff).... good playback and quality for the price..... I like it...

But if you open your MP3 with TMPEG tools-multiplex-choose videocd nonstandard-you'll have a MPEG1 layer3(2% bigger file but you can burn up to 820 MB of MP3 in a 700 MB CD with NERO-vcd nonstandard=10%more!) Audio quality is very good. Desavatage is only 99 songs (if you don't)merge them. Also VBR suport,48khz,jointstereo SVCD looks ok.2700kb/s

CVD? $100 N/A 8 of 10 miniDVD/cDVD Comments: For a $100 DVD player, I was really suprised at how good of a player this is. The quality and sound generated from the Apex AD-500B is great. I even played my MP3 CD-RW's! Good job Apex!

CVD? $120 N/A 9 of 10 Comments: The Apex AD-500B works very well for home brewed VCDs on CDR media. I have 40 VCDs on CDR and all work well (about 10 different brands of CDR media). VCDs must be in the VCD compliant format with .dat file. MPG, AVI and ASF will not work. Great value for the money. I purchased this for $120 at Circuit City 2 months ago. This player stopped working for me after a lightning strike. I exchanged the Apex AD500B for a Apex AD660. I am very disappointed with the Apex AD660, it only plays 90% of my VCDs on CDR and will not play any of my MP3 CDs. I am taking the Apex AD660 back to Circuit City for another Apex AD500B.

CVD? $120 N/A 5 of 10 Comments: the unit PLAYS cdr vcds fine, but if i PAUSE or FF and play again it takes a few seconds for the video to increase to normal speed and for the audio to synch up and sometimes it takes a few more seconds. also the remote is bulky and poorly designed. my pioneer dv-333 doesn't have these playback issues. headin' back to the store to return this unit and spending extra for another dv-333 which i should've bought to begin with. but for legit dvd playback this unit is quite the value.
