I did a few tests with this and used several Video Converters/Editors which offer it via their GUI. It's good free software, but apply any Dynamic Range Compression even lowest settings and you could end up with crackling in some samples. I tested without DRC and still heard crackling artifacts in some of my tests. Update Lav AC-3 is even worse overall. TMPgenc creates good Dolby Digital files, but it's normalization process may be indequate, if channel mapping of source input is uneven to start with. Use Levelator on problematic Ac-3 files, but take note that it really levels out the dynamic range, if you are an Audiophile! |
