What the heck, thank god for the comment below mine, because it made me give this program a shot.
I have an interesting DVD where in the very first vob file, the ac3 audio doesn't start when the video starts, leading to some older converters/demuxers/players not being able to handle the audio, or even realise it's there. I was really struggling with this, and even programs like tsmuxer could not help (sure, it cut the video without re-encoding, but audio and video were out of sync!), and ffmpeg politely acknowledged that there was an ac3 stream however refused to touch it, cutting just video and discarding the audio. So I thought I would try this program.
First off, I had problems even getting this to run, I was getting crazy screen tear artifacting in windows, so I set it for compatibility with XP SP 3 (on a whim), and this improved things a little bit, perhaps. It totally tanked my "aero theme" and sent me back in time, but it worked flawlessly. If you hover over the buttons there are tooltips to say what they do, very helpful. I literally just went to a timestamp near what I needed (so that the audio and video would start at the same time), and voila, it worked, talk about simple!
Long live mpeg2 - I will definitely be using this program and nothing else, when I need to cut some clips out of some dvd files. Video doesn't preview for me very well, there is a "window" which should show you where you are, but this refreshes whenever it feels like it, not in real time - not a problem at all. |
