I generally encode to H264 or just use MakeMKV, but I had to encode to avi recently due to a faulty dvd player and a batch of beloved anamorphic Ntsc DVD's which I didn't want to scratch on my screwed up player. To be frank AutoGK did not impress me on the final result even using its 100% target quality. The encodes were left with combing/lines in frames after the ivtc pulldown operation and Pure FILM analysis. AutoGK always used to impress with progressive sources, but I hated the chipmunk voice of PAL speedup, hence R1 purchases I days gone by. In the end MakeMKV came to the rescue and hardware deinterlacing. I forgot just how bad avi looks. Dvd player in the bin! |
