I use this excellent software for HDR to SDR encoding.
In the 'Misc' tab I click on 'VPP Colorspace' and then I select 'HDR10 to SDR' and then select 'Reinhard' (and use the default Contrast value of 0.50). I find it produces excellent SDR videos with accurate colors.
Also in the 'Misc' tab, I select Colormatrix: bt709, Transfer: bt709, Colorprim: bt709, Chromaloc: blank, Lookahead: 32.
In the 'Video' tab, my selections are - Codec: HEVC, Profile: Auto, Resolution: Keep Original, Frame Rate: Keep Original, Bit depth: 10, Tier: High, Level: Auto, Multipass: 2-pass full, Quality: P5 (highest is P7 but doubles the time to complete on my GPU), Bitrate mode: Variable, Bitrate kbps: 50000, Max Bitrate kbps: 100000.
In the 'Audio', 'Chapters' and 'Subtitles' tabs, I select 'Copy' which of course copies those items from the HDR .mkv input file to the SDR .mkv output file.
In File > Settings, I select 'Save last profile used' to auto save all my current settings as default so they are ready when next opening CudaCoder. Also, in File > Save Profile, I have saved profiles with different settings using a name I choose.
I would recommend to use Reinhard with its default value of Contrast=0.50 (the Hable option's default values produce a video image which for me is a bit too dark unless you change the d value to d=0.1, and the Mobius option's default value of Transition=0.30 produces a video image which for me is a bit too bright unless you change the Transition value to 0.20 or to 0.10).
Many thanks to the author for this brilliant GUI for rigaya's excellent NVEnc.
