I don't know what maa's talking about. Using the DV-AVI capture and rendering formats, audio is 48KHz, provided your source is too, for example mini-DV cam with audio set at 16 bits.
DV-AVI's the format to use to bring into your MPEG encoder of choice. It's a great entry-level editing program, and you can't beat the price. Too bad you can't produce as MPEG directly, or at least frame-serve to TMPGEnc, for instance.
