I often use Video Duplicate Finder 4.0 to check for different tv recording videos and series.
It is a fast and good tool to find duplicate videos in different formats (h264, h265, AV1, MPEG-1/2 and others.
The tool is very fast with native ffmpeg 8.1 binding and let you tweak or customize the search for fast results or better comparison check. I also tested video comparer 2026 (commercial version). This software ist free and very good. Scene detection and comparison within a video file is also possible.

Jun 22, 2026 Version: 4.0 beta
OS: Windows 11 64-bit Ease of use: 9/10
Functionality: 9/10

Best video cleanup tool I ever saw.
All the right features necessary, other tools have only a percentage of the score.
Finds even clips cut from the original with changed frames per second (slow motion)!
Preview is great, but a multy-preview (all found examples) might be better.
Nothing to critizise!
10 points overall!
Fast and precise!

I've only used the 3.0.x pre-release version dated 2026.01.04 and am impressed. It's pretty simple to use and does exactly what I needed. That said, it's not without bugs but which shouldn't be surprising since I used a pre-release version.

I was very happy to find this great piece of software to compare my movies, series, travel movies and other things. It can also compare pictures!
This tools is a good and free alternative software to other video comparison programs. It supports all standard container (mp4, mkv, avi, etc.) and formats (h264, h265, AV1, etc.). It uses the latest ffmpeg librarys to check the files. It support multi core cpus and also can use nvidia/intel/amd gpu for decoding the videos. The speed of the program is very good. Sometimes it is not very precisely, but you see thumbnails to manually check the different video files. A great help and freeware! I own the commercial software video comparer, too. It is more powerful than this freeware software, but slow and expensive. Further the commercial video comparer use very old ffmpeg librarys (version 5). It is impossible to manually replace them, because the program has a digital signature. The developer of the commercial software does not update this important library. It is a shame.
