LameXP is a graphical front-end for the LAME MP3, Ogg Vorbis and Nero AAC encoders. The Nero Encoder is *not* included in the download, it's available from the Nero Website as free download. Accepted input formats are: Wave, MP3, Ogg Vorbis, AAC/MP4, FLAC, WavPack, Musepack, Speex and APE. Batch processing is implemented and will use multi-threading when several processors/cores are available.

I refer to this awesome FREE tool as the Windows audio encoding/converting Swiss Army Knife. I use this for all my audio encoding needs and it slices through everything like a hot knife through butter.

It's a solid 10 out of 10 in my book.

Thank you, MuldeR!

LameXP not recognizing Apple libraries for AAC after upgrading to the latest version of iTunes v12.3. Had to revert back to Nero AAC encoder.

This program is good in concept, but bad in practice.
On launch and after some annoying and child-like sound effects, you need to disable a bunch of default settings, like shell integration (on by default), disable DropBox something that is nothing more than a gimmick, sound effects, and update reminders. This last one is a hoax indeed, after a year every time you launch the program 2 of the above settings will be ignored, you will be prompted to an update dialog, that if you dismiss will play another annoying and mocking music for about 6 seconds.

After you wasted about 10 seconds of your life, there are a few more issues. The program is compressed in the most strict sense. It will uncompress all the static encoders/decoders to the %TEMP% folder and execute from there... "every time", wasting more precious time and wearing your HDD/SSD without any grounded reason behind. After you encoded your audio files, you will notice that it's not as clean as you desired. In the comment tag by default a self-advertising is included without your willing consent and the words "Encoded with LameXP".

Also annoying is the decision to output AAC files in no other container than MP4, without more options. MKVToolnix is known for preferring stream files rather than contained ones, is not uncommon to end with a MKV without audio otherwise. So this adds a demux process on top of LameXP that you need to run by yourself.

Worrying is also the time consumed in recent versions for launching the program, and the inability to hide the command window on nightly builds. With this said the general feeling is a program that revolves too much on itself, OCD like never-ending confirmation dialogs... and what you get is a program that yes, is free, but probably won't make your life much easier than it was.

@ RedDwarfer

Then report the problem the developer, LoRd_MuldeR, on the Doom9 forum.

Neither of the latest beta or final release builds will work on my system. Both show a not accessible - you do not have permission problem when accessing any of my drives. However, v4.04 build 988 works without issue.
