RealMedia? but why? Unless you really need:
1. a very slow and CPU consuming encoder called producer.exe
2. very limited means to play the output file (REALPLAYER)
3. a format that is rather complexe and locked in case you need
to edit, cut, manipulate.
4. Or you live in a world where NO BODY told you so far that
a new codec out there called H.264/AVC is the best of what
is invented in terms of video codecs

Great little proggy this.

can produce very small filesizes for films that could possibly be used for mobile phones/pda's ect.

very simple to use, but can take a long time to convert a film.

The obvious question is, "Why?" With DivX and Xvid as better codecs and the growing number of set-top players coming out which support them, who wants an app which converts to the infernal Real format?

Review by brownstem on Mar 26, 2005 Version: 0.3.1 beta OS: WinXP Ease of use: 5/10 Functionality: 5/10 Value for money: 5/10 Overall: 5/10

I did a two-CD backup of The Fifth Element with FilmShrink last night. It took just over six hours to transcode the movie --- I just let it run overnight. The finished product looked very good --- no complaints. The only problem is, what are you going to play a RealMedia file on other than a computer? Is RM coming to your DVD player anytime soon --- I doubt it. Very easy to use, however, and certainly can do in a pinch if you're a Real freak...
