Hi, google and copilot both keep saying that FastFlix can do AUTO CRF (like a VMAF scan) where it will test the source and dynamically find the optimal CRF value for the source in question.

i have spent all day on it, and no matter how hard i try, i cannot get this option to show. in fact at one point i even got in a strong disagreement with Gemini, because not only after following all steps, the option i should have still does not appear. along with this, both AI's failed to actually find me a single post or something where it's confirmed that FastFlix doers in fact have the ability to auto find the best Visual CRF value for the user.

Review by Registered55 on Jan 25, 2026 Version: 5.12.4 OS: Windows 11 64-bit Ease of use: 7/10 Functionality: 8/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 8/10

Unable to size main screen. Unable to encode with hardware cuda encoding. This seems like a partially finished program, not yet ready for release.

NEG:
-unclear formatting params [libaom], how to enable film-grain:8 etc.
-outright terrible, missing documentation
-can not create proper profile, without having to enable single pass every time
-can not modify raw commands, override, adjust settings
-no vmaf [sample] encoding

POS:
+delivers best quality [aom>svt] versus cleverffmpeg-gui, handbrake etc.

Review by Stiff Martin on Nov 28, 2022 Version: 5.0 OS: Windows 10 64-bit Ease of use: 7/10 Functionality: 7/10 Value for money: 10/10 Overall: 8/10

The Bad:
-no av1 intelx86-64 tune support [like with clever ffmpeg gui]
-no quicksync hevc
-no quicksync vp9
-no quicksync avc
-trimming is bad, it needs sliders
-no presets for proxies

The Good:
-replaces handbrake for software hevc encoding
-lots of options
-free and fast
-easy setup
