| Purchased back in March 2006. The IDVD16DLS is either a rebadged BenQ or LiteOn; I received the BenQ (DW1655). I crossflashed it to the official BenQ firmware soon after. This has been a very good writer for me; I believe it is slightly better on + vs. - media. No problems with Verbatim DVD+R DL media, although only at 2.4x. | Purchased my burner on sale from Staples. Its a Benq DW1655. This unit is replacing a failing LG Lightscribe unit that is about 1.5 years old. Install was a breeze - just had to set the jumper to master. XP immediately recognized it and I was on my way. Burned 3 DVDs and one lightscribe label so far - all flawlessly. | The io/magic IDVD16DLS price could be a little cheaper i payed $70 at staples, but the drive is excellent, i happened to get a rebadged Benq 1655 lightscribe unit. I crossflashed my IDVD16DLS drive into a benq 1655 drive and it works fine, the sticker on the top of the dvd burning unit even says its a benq 1655, i couldnt be happier, these are one of the best dvd burning drives ever made. | The saga continues; Next they recommend I update my Nero 6, but I'm using 7. Also, they asked me to update my ASPI (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.jsp?cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe&sess=no) Next, they want to me to update my IDE chipset controllers. weeeee.... | Hmmm...I can't rate this one yet. The box and iomagic website clearly states that it can use DVD +R DL media. I tried to use Memorex DVD +R Double Layer media with no luck. I used the Nero Info Tool (http://www.iomagic.com/downloads/utilities/NeroInfoTool_207.zip) and it states that this drive cannot use DVD +R media. Their tech department got right back to me when I asked and provided a link to new firmware (http://www.liteonit.com/ODD/WebFW/SHW-16H5S/DR16LS0R.zip). Still, no luck. | This drive must have new firmware on it. I got one from Compusa this last weekend for $59 Some of the boxes had the stats listed here and the other had a new label that that said 16 X DVD+-RW/+-R and 8X DL support.
