Quick Media Converter 3.8.0 HD Next Generation (Beta testing) View entire changelog Hello to all , We have finally released our latest beta version of QMC 3.8.0 HD Next Generation , we need your help for testing it as it becomes a bit overwhelming to do it solely among us two . What's new in QMC 3.8.0 HD Next Generation ? Roughly it looks similar to the previous version QMC 3.6.5the only obvious visible change is that we added the HD icon, when you click on it you will get a new window such as below, As you will see, many new HD formats are now supported and that includes AVC,warning it takes a long time to convert even with a powerful pcand the output files are fairly big once converted. Several previous bugs have been corrected as well, new PS3Xbox support for L31 and L41 profiles are now included in the application . Most of the other features remain the same butwe had to include three different versions of ffmpeg in our application in order to support most formats . We will leave this as a beta test for about 15 days just to make sure you guys may point out to us the different bugs that may still be present despite our thorow testing and report them to us. if you are a beginner you can download version QMC 3.6.5, Version 3.8.0 HD contains more possibilities but will not be supported until beta testing is over. This worked great, for awhile, converting MP4 files to AVI. The AVI created was much larger then the original MP4 input. But the video quality was entacked and no audio sync issues at all. The interface is very strange and could be made a lot easier. But for what I needed, it was great while it loaded. THEN, suddenly for no reason the app would not start up. Removing and re install did not fix it. Still no go. It was like it worked great, then totally stopped. Almost like it timed out, even though this is a freeware app. Moving on to a diff converter...

WinFF converts much faster-though not as broad a selection as this program. Failed to convert swf to gif. Too many problems.

pretty neat tool but not infallible. Itfailed on some wmv to avi conversions. Could not open the wmv file. Then I used Any video Converter anf it did a fine job.

Very slick and professional in every way. I also like that it allows you to specify aspect ratio, which makes this also a good program for fixing aspect ratios. Does an excellent job of converting flv to windows media. I have it installed on Vista system.

While the program appeared to convert the file, the user interface needs a lot of help. When adding files, there is no way to change the order. While a minor thing, I had a large list of files to convert and after opening the folder, I couldn't change the list to prioritize the conversion processes. The conversion status didn't provide a percentage done for the file it was working on either.

Nothing this little app did, worked for me. In two cases, when trying to encode into avi (divx or xvid) from an mpg2 file, it gave me an error. When trying to encode into a quicktime file it actually made an mp4 video (h264... so it said...) but none of my players were able to play it (vlc and mpc included). Easy to use indeed, but what's the point if in the end you get pretty much nothing out of it. Well.. maybe it will work for others, for me it was a waste pf time. Good luck to the developer with future versions!!

Finally, a all in one converter that works with Vista. For all you fellow dummies out there this program is ridiculously easy to use. I believe I have found my Super replacement.
