  1. What is a DVD file? How do I open, convert, or burn it. I have tried Nero, Poweriso, Magiciso, Ulead DVDMovieFactory, Ulead DVD Workshop, CloneDVD, TMPGEnc, DVDDecrypter, and DVD Shrink. None of them recognize this file type. What do I need?

Scroll down for file and folder structure info. There is also good stuff about formats for audio and video streams. Essentially, the basic video format for DVD is MPEG-2. It is contained in a VOB structure. You just need to know how to work with it.

The software you mentioned should not have issues, unless you are trying to work with a copy-protected DVD.

ADDITIONAL NOTE (After Baldrick's post): It did not occur to me that there might be a .DVD file extension. In that case, you got me.

A file with a .dvd extension?
Or a file that windows explorer mentions as a dvd file in the type column? Then turn off hide extensions and tell us the extension.

    What IS a dvd file

Do you have an ISO or IMG file ??

A little more detail would do wonders, a screen shot of this "file" would be great!!!!

Okay, what extension (or rather, the full file name, extensions and all) does it have if you have the option to display extensions on?
