DVBViewer Pro Beta 7.3.1.9
An installer for DVBViewer Pro Beta version 7.3.1.9 is available in the Members (Download) Area -> Beta Section.

Please note the following important change: The certificate that we have used to sign our software has expired. Unfortunately getting a new one has become much more expensive and complicated in the meantime, which is a problem for small software manufacturers like us. Therefore we are providing this release first as a self-signed beta version, until we have found a better solution.

Because Windows cannot verify the publisher, launching the beta installer downloaded by a browser will trigger misleading "Windows protected your PC" warnings, and you need to first click "More info" and then "Run anyway" to get it going (see here). Also anti-virus software may respond more suspiciously.

However, you can avoid this hassle by launching the signed DVBViewer Pro Downloader of the previous DVBViewer 7.3.1 version (see Windows start menu -> DVBViewer). After scrolling down to the bottom you will see a new "Applications" section, offering beta versions. Select what you want to install and let the downloader do its job. As long as you are using the original downloader (with Christian Hackbart verified as publisher in the Windows UAC screen) or a download from our members area, you can be sure that we are the publishers, despite any warnings.

Please also note that downloading and running the DVBViewer Media Server Beta 3.3.1.9 full version requires purchasing an additional Media Server license (if not yet done)! This does not apply to the restricted Basic version, though (see here).

Change Log DVBViewer Pro Beta 7.3.1.9
Added: RTSP (Sat>IP) Client: Support for TCP interleaved transport mode (also called RTP/AVP/TCP). It enables receiving video/audio and additional data from Sat>IP servers supporting this mode via a single TCP connection established by DVBViewer for sending commands (see here). The normal mode requires two additional UDP streams for data transport. Please note the following points:

TCP interleaved mode must be enabled in Options → Hardware → Settings for each virtual RTSP device in question by changing the protocol from UDP (default) to TCP. Previously this setting was only available if the RTSP device referred to a DVBViewer Media Server as source. In this case the setting activated a proprietary TCP transport mode only supported by applications from the DVBViewer family.

TCP interleaved mode is part of the RTSP standard, but not mentioned in the Sat>P specifications, so Sat>IP servers may not support it. If the server responds with an error, DVBViewer automatically falls back to UDP data transport and displays “TCP data transport not supported by the server” in the OSD. Known Sat>IP servers with TCP interleaved support are the DVBViewer Media Server version 3.3.2 and later, the Linux Sat>IP servers tvheadend and minisatip, and receivers equipped with sat>ip-axe firmware (which contains a customized minisatip version).

The advantages of TCP interleaved mode are dropout prevention (at the cost of more protocol overhead) and less firewall issues. Furthermore it may facilitate using Sat>IP via a VPN.

Added: RTSP (Sat>IP) Client: Measures to make Sat>IP connections using the UDP transport mode less susceptible to blocking by firewalls, particularly if the network connection is configured as public (see here).

Added: Hardware: Support for new Digital Devices PCIe cards and Sundtek SkyTV Ultimate 8 / Dual USB DVB-S devices (see here).

Change: TS Stream: If the network adapter selection for multicast IPTV in a virtual TS Stream device is set to “Automatic”, DVBViewer now checks if there is a single adapter with an IP address in the private 192.168… range, which is mostly used by routers. If yes, this adapter is used, otherwise the adapter selected by Windows as before (see here).

Change: TS Stream: The selected UDP/RTP Interface (IP address) in the settings of a virtual TS Stream Device on Options → Hardware now also applies to RTSP Streams that are received via this device. Previously this setting was only used for multicast UDP/RTP streams like MagentaTV.

Change: TS Stream: The HLS stream type detection order has been changed to prevent that an audio elementary stream is mistaken as transport stream, if the server HTTP response wrongly indicates video/MP2T as content-type (see here).

Fix: TS Stream: DVBViewer could not handle WebVTT subtitles for videos in HLS or MPEG Dash format, if the subtitles were provided as a single unsegmented .vtt file.

Fix: TS Stream: HLS or MPEG Dash streams with segmented MP4 could cause a crash, if the HEVC header data in the initialization segment contained more than 1024 bytes.

Added: TS Stream: DVBViewer now automatically adds the RTSP standard port 554 if the port is not specified in an RTSP URL processed as TS Stream (see here).

Added: Media Server Client: Multiple DVBViewer instances running on the same PC can now be remote-controlled individually via a DVBViewer Media Server, provided the new method for multiple instances introduced in version 7.3.0 is used. For registering itself as remote control client, DVBViewer appends instance numbers greater than 1 with a preceding # sign to the PC name.

Fix: Playback: M3U and PLS Playlist URLs entered via Playback → Open URL were not handled and caused an error message. Now the processing is delegated to the live stream playback branch, thus covering streams that DVBViewer can handle natively, particularly internet radio URLs (see here).

Change: OSD/Video Playback: The OSD message “Press "0" to start from the beginning” now disappears as soon as “0” or any other number key for a position change is pressed. Previously it remained on the screen until Options → Movies → Info-Timeout has elapsed.

Added: OSD/ Audio Playback: During playback of audio/music files the artist and title are displayed at the top of the video area in the same way as radio text (see next point), if Options → TV/Radio → Show radio text is switched on. If artist and title are not available, the filename is displayed.

Change: OSD/Radio Text: Radio text is not displayed anymore at the top of the video area while OSD pages are active, because it may overlap important parts. Exceptions to it are the OSD main menu, the “Mini-EPG” and the Media Window (displayed after pressing the Return key during file playback).

Change: OSD/File Playback: The OSD Media Window (displayed after pressing the Return key during file playback) now also triggers thumbnail creation, if possible, since it is supposed to display a video or audio (album cover) thumbnail. Previously the OSD Media Window only displayed a default image, unless a thumbnail had been created before while using the OSD pages Media Center → Movies or Music.

Fix: OSD: While an OSD dialog prompting to confirm channel switching was active (e.g. in case of timeshift playback), DVBViewer did not respond to received command parameters. Particularly -x plus action number parameters sent by the Media Server for remote-controlling DVBViewer were ignored, thus making the OSD dialog inoperable with these remote commands.

Fix: OSD: Navigation with the OSD Right action did not work correctly on some pages, particularly on the Movies, Music and Images page. Depending on the display mode of the content list (List View or Icons) it was not possible to navigate from the button column at the left to the list at the right (since 7.3.1, see here).

Fix: OSD: If video playback was started on an OSD page with an embedded video window, another video renderer than EVR Custom was used, and Options → OSD General → Close OSD on video and TV playback start was switched on, the OSD page remained on the screen in an inoperable state, and an action like Rebuild Playback or Pause/Play was necessary to make the video visible (since 7.3.1, see here).

Fix: OSD: If the tweak “Show Mini EPG in Timeshift mode” (→ launch Tweaker.exe) was switched off, the OSD main menu of the default OSD skin displayed channel logos twice in a displaced manner.

Fix: Plugins: Measures against access violations caused by OSD plugins (like the one installed with the Blufuzz OSD skin) in additionally running DVBViewer instances, particularly disabling channel switching in these instances altogether.

Fix/Change: Input Options: Some faults and inconsistencies particularly concerning the loading/saving of keyboard and remote control key assignments to DVBViewer actions in .remote files (see here😞

The name of the currently edited file was not displayed. Now it is visible at the top right of the input options page. Please note that this is not necessarily the file currently used by DVBViewer. It can be a different one after using the Load or Save button. However, OK/Apply makes it the used file.

Key assignments in a loaded .remote file did not take effect after clicking OK/Apply, but only after a DVBViewer restart.

DVBViewer could not handle loading .remote files from other locations than the Remotes sub-directory of the configuration folder. On next DVBViewer start this caused the creation of a substitute file with the same name in the Remotes sub-directory, that only contained default key assignments. Now, after loading a file from other locations, OK/Apply saves the contained assignments to a file with the same name in the Remotes sub-directory (which means, it creates a copy there) and lets DVBViewer use this file.

The Save button did the same as OK/Apply (with the same bug, see second subitem above), which means, it changed the .remote file used by DVBViewer. Furthermore, if the current key assignments were saved to a location outside the Remotes sub-directory of the configuration folder, DVBViewer could not find it on next start and created a substitute in the Remotes...
