I like Pinnacle Studio. It is true that the tool has many bugs. After a few
core dumps, you will know what you should not do and you will know how to
get your jobs done. I used it for about a year. I now hardly had any problem.
I think the tool has two major advantages. First, it is very easy to use.
Second, it is very affordable. I believe it costs me less than $30 (after
rebate) for Studio 7 DV (with a IEEE 1394 card). It costs me another $60
(after rebate) for Studio 8AV (with an analog to AVI capture card). (I have
received both rebates). I saw Studio 8 sold for under $20 several months ago
in Fry's. For me, it is easy to use, it does not cost me much, and it can get
my job done. What else should I expect? Well, I will rate the product as 9 out
of 10. It still has some bugs. Although the bugs do not bothers me a lot. But
10 means it is perfect.
