I had been using DVDauthorGUI in the past to author home videos. DVDauthorGUI is more complicated to use than DVD Flick. DVDAutorGUI requires mpeg elementary streams as input files to author a DVD. DVD flick does great job with the support of multiple file types (mpeg, avi, etc) within the same dvd, subtitle support, automated menu support, and also very easy to use. It is as simple as Nero, but does better job than Nero. It had all the freeware built in to encode, subtitle, menu build, chapter build, author, and burn. I would rate this product better than any other freeware available online.
Even though this product does far better than any other freeware, I would like to see following features in the future releases of DVD Flick:
1) Better flexibility with chapter building rather than build chapters based on fixed time.
2) Better flexibility with menu building related to length of title, linking the chapters with menu items, ability to add custom background picture, ability to add custom background songs, etc.
3) If possible, I would like to see a feature to automatically extract datecode/timecode from avi files of MiniDV tapes, and add them as subtitles using a background freeware tool like "DV Datecode". |
