This tool bailed me out of a situation neither DVDShrink nor DVD Decrypter could--copying a DVD made by a brand new SONY DVD Recorder from a VHS I own the rights to. I made the grim discovery just last night that the RDR VX530 recorder produces DVDs that get the "Invalid Navigation Structure" error using DVDShrink.
Many of the solutions suggested at the digital digest site ( http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=45459) did not work for me, but this one did.
I'm not really clear on whether this "Invalid Navigation" error message was caused by ARccOS encryption or if that's just what happens with DVDs recorded this way (DVD RAM as opposed to ROM).
If SONY is encrypting these disks, then it's an affront to consumers who may be making perfectly legitimate copies of their own material. In any event, I'm thankful that a tool like this is available to get around this. |
