I've been using DVD-RB for several months. If you wish to do complete backups, or have large movie files, this program can certainly produce impressive results. ProCoder 2.0 has been my encoder of choice, although CCE or the other encoders (free, included) work fine. Overall quality is excellent.
The only issues that I've had were with the early versions: I did have one or two DVDs that had the wrong audio track (my bad), and had a few backups that would not read in DVD-RB due to read errors.
I did donate my $10 early, and do not regret it at all!
I only gave it a 4 on ease of use, because I feel that you MUST work with this program to get everything set up right - once done, it's easy enough. As to the issue of encoding time, I have built a set of "twins" to allow encoding on one dedicated machine, and everything else on the other. I just felt the quality of the finished DVD was worth the extra cost, especially when I can throw a machine together for a couple of hundred bucks (I'm not a gamer, so the machines that I build are "mules" - fast enough processor, stable video and board, and as much RAM as I can afford - or the board can hold).
If you are satisfied with DVD Shrink - keep using it: I still do, expecially if I'm looking at 90% quality and saving 5 hours, LOL..
