I've already posted a review about this but I feel it's a bit outdated now although I still have nothing but good things to say about it. I finally decided to get a 4k drive and Xreveal is still easily the best software for this in my opinion. AnyDVD seems to be gone at the moment, and I just can't get Passkey to work (says my drive is unsupported). But Xreveal has no issues. I had to flash the firmware of my drive but once I did that it just works. It's the same process needed to make ripping UHD discs work in MakeMKV.
In my previous review I mentioned needing extra work to get this going as unlike AnyDVD and Passkey you have to supply your own keys and BD+ lookup table files. That is still the case with the free version, but you can also upgrade to the pro version which will find the keys for you and remove BD+ without having to supply lookup tables. With that said though I do appreciate the manual process of this as it means this software can work without an internet connection or it ever gets removed from the internet (like AnyDVD). The pro version is very reasonably priced though so I will be doing that eventually anyways just to give extra support to the devs.
This software is fantastic. I can put any disc (at least that I own) into my PC and just play it in Kodi without issues. I personally feel that this is the ultimate solution for watching UHD and Blu-Ray movies on a computer now, highly recommended |
