Give xvid enough bit rate and the output is very pleasing. Yes, h264 performs better at lower bitrates but anyone who knows anything in the video encoding game will tell you that h264 has a smoothing effect on grain and 'washes' out fine film detail, which xvid retains vastly better. H265 is worse than h264 in this respect of this smoothing. In my humble opinion Xvid at 1800/1900kbps true quality kicks in, but all depends on your source. |
